Michael Prager
Michael Prager Chairman; chairman, executive committee @michaelprager.bsky.social chair@foodaddictioninstitute.org michaelprager.substack.com Michael is a recovering food addict who has lost more than 500 pounds in his life through yo-yo dieting. Once he recognized that he could be a Food Addict and took the necessary steps, he has successfully maintained a 150-pound weight loss for over 30 years. Believing it was unfair that so many people struggled with their weight without knowing that more than just willpower could be at play, he moved into Food Addiction advocacy in the early 2000s and has remained active in the field ever since. He co-founded the Food Addiction Institute alongside his mentor and friend, Phil Werdell, and authored the 2010 book Fat Boy Thin Man. Michael joined the institute’s board shortly after Werdell’s memorial service in 2023 and has served as Chairman since April 2024. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdGTBOHNfHM

Cynthia Myers-Morrison, EdD
Cynthia Myers-Morrison, EdD Secretary; Excutive Committee VoIP: +1 (505) 433-1204 cynthiajmm@gmail.com My mission is to encourage and educate children, young people, and adults to plan ahead to attain and maintain healthy metabolic systems four months before conception. This will support the mental and physical well-being of offspring for generations to come. I came to this through years of dedication to foodaddictioninstitute.org and through the work we have done collectively to include Food Addiction as a substance use disorder in the DSM. I was a practicing Food Addict at different weights throughout my childhood and young adulthood. When I stopped drinking, using drugs, and engaging in other unsuccessful behaviors, I continued using food substances as comfort and to fulfill cravings. This brought me 27 years of painful searching for a solution. I finally found abstinence from all grains and sugar. I weigh and measure my food to ensure I get enough—but not too much—because I erred on both sides in previous eras. Today, I’m content. I have healthier relationships than I’ve ever had. I have equanimity and peace instead of the chaos or rigidity that used to overtake my life regularly. I want to offer the means and methods to others who suffer from cravings so they can be free to live their best lives. When people bring children into the world only when they experience their healthiest metabolism, many of the challenges our country and world face today can be eliminated within a few generations. No shame or blame for past generations—or even this one. However, now we can shift by treating Food Addiction properly. “Food Addiction Informed” Tenets: We believe in the disease model of Food Addiction. We believe in abstinence from binge and trigger foods and behaviors. We believe substantial support is a vital part of recovery. I’ve served in various capacities at the Food Addiction Institute, including as a previous Vice-Chair, a long-time member of the social media committee, and the Webinar Chair. I love doing interviews, and we collectively want your stories included in our YouTube channel. If you’re interested, you can reach me at info@FoodAddictionInstitute.org.
