Having experienced childhood obesity himself, Dr. Soto-Mota is deeply committed to addressing Mexico’s ongoing childhood obesity crisis. In May 2024, he played a key role in the IFACC conference in London, signing a groundbreaking Consensus Statement alongside 40 international experts, formally recognizing ultra-processed food addiction as a substance use disorder.
